In the late 1800s Ned Kelly was an Australian outlaw (bushranger) who operated in Victoria and was executed in Melbourne. Responsible for numerous murders and robberies (and, posthumously, several bad movies) Ned Kelly and his gang built suits of armor which they wore during their final shootout with officers. The home of Ned's armor is the State Library of Victoria, in downtown Melbourne.
I've been bugging Stephanie to go with me to the library for weeks now to see the armor, but something always comes up. Finally we made it to the library before closing time. We asked the lady at the front desk how we could get to the armor. She recommended an airplane! The armor is on loan to the capital city of Canberra until August. As you can see, Abe and I were sorely disappointed.
But we made the best out of it, taking in the statues on the library grounds. Here are the boys studying St. George slaying the dragon.
We also noted this odd suggestion on a nearby building.
I don't know exactly what that means, but I'm going to say, no thanks.
An important public service notice: while Ned Kelly might be a fascinating historical personality, please, for your own health and safety, do not get a Ned Kelly tattoo.
