Crown forged by Abe.
It's funny the things you learn moving to a Commonwealth country. Like that the Queen's birthday is a national holiday. So today we did what any good Australian (or Australian wannabees) did and took the day off work and school and just had a day of play and adventure.
Thanks for that, Betty.

Of course, June 13th is not really Her Highness's birthday, but I suppose when you're royalty, you can adjust the national calendar to suit your whims. Back in January, Ben and I decided that three birthdays (his, mine, and Hank's) within a month of each other and just after the holidays was a little too much cake in such a short time when the rest of the year - aside from Abe's birthday in September - was empty. So we took a page from Her Majesty's book and readjusted our own plans to fill in the mid-year cake drought.

Give over, Betts.
There's a new queen in town.

Awesome! I miss all the birthday cake parties in Boulder.
Love it! Happy unbirthday, Steph.
Ha - thanks, gals! I miss our impromptu birthday parties, too. There are just some things about Family Housing that really can't be replicated. :(
This might be the best post ever. I love the picture at the end.
Heh, thanks Michelle! I had a hard time convincing Ben that I was going for silly and a little out-there; he kept frowning at the playback. I think he doesn't quite get my sense of humor sometimes...
How many clocks do you have in your kitchen? I like your crown--everyone needs one of those to occasionally profess their importance and authority.
Isn't the crown great? Totally agree about their importance, as well as mine when I'm wearing it.
We only have those two cheap clocks on the wall - the top one is Melbourne's time and the bottom is EST so we know what time it is when we want to call. I wanted to get a clock for each time zone where we have family and label them, but Ben thought that was a bit much. :D
hilarious!
