Hard at play

As the days are getting shorter and the air is getting crisper, Hank is still happy to spend as much time as possible outside. Last week was warm, and one afternoon as I finally got him to come inside, I noticed his legs were absolutely covered in mosquito bites. It was puzzling as the mozzies pretty much stay in the denser parts of the flower beds until dusk, at which point they attack any patch of skin left unprotected. I've spent quite a bit of time outdoors this week doing early-autumn yard work, so I've been able to observe firsthand how Hank became a human pincushion.

It seems he's taken to playing directly in the flowerbeds, sometimes even plopping himself right down in the middle of a patch. What is he doing there? Why, construction work, of course:

Well, hooray for having a yard all to yourself! Does the owner care if you change things up in the yard? (Take out bushes, put something else in, etc.)

Poor baby! I love Benadryl spray. It clears up those bites so quick!

So... that is what you buy a little boy to keep him busy in the garden! I will have to remember that for next year's gardening season.
